Maths
Maths is an incredibly important subject, essential to everyday life, financial literacy, and various forms of employment, especially in science, technology and engineering. Through our understanding of Maths, we also gain a greater appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the world. At St Bernard’s, we aspire for every child to experience the joy and wonder of mathematics, delivering interactive and engaging lessons that nurture children’s curiosity.
In Early Years and Key Stage One, children will develop their foundational knowledge, learning about numbers, shapes, fractions, money, and time, as well as the fundamental Maths operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. As pupils progress through Key Stage Two, they will continue developing their fluency and deepen their knowledge of mathematical concepts, working with statistics, geometry, algebra, ratio and proportion.
Designed to challenge and inspire children, our high quality Maths curriculum will equip pupils with the ability to reason and solve problems with increasing sophistication, preparing them for life in secondary school and beyond.
