Week 3 and 4
Just a little note to let you know that we have had a busy and exciting time in Year 3/4, with lots of wonderful learning taking place!
📚 English – Seed of Doubt
We have been reading Seed of Doubt by Irena Brignull. Through the story, we have explored themes such as dreams, hopes for the future, courage, friendship and believing in yourself. The children have written diary entries, exploring characters' thoughts and feelings, and have also created a poem about their own dreams for the future, inspired by the book. They have enjoyed expressing their ideas creatively and developing their vocabulary.
🔢 Maths – Rounding Numbers
In Maths, we have been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. This is an important skill, as children are beginning to work confidently with numbers up to 1,000. We have been using number lines and identifying the nearest multiple of 10 or 100. Children are learning to look at the tens digit when rounding to the nearest 10 and the tens digit when rounding to the nearest 100, remembering that 5 or more means we round up.
🌱 Our Learning and Progress
The children are working very well and continuing to make good progress across the curriculum. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow, particularly when sharing their ideas and explaining their thinking.
Well done, Year 3/4! Keep up the fantastic work!
