School Values
Our Values
At St Bernard's RC Primary School, our values are not simply words displayed on a classroom wall. They are the principles that shape the way we treat one another, the decisions we make and the community we are striving to become.
Everything begins with one fundamental belief:
Every child is created in the image and likeness of God.
Because every person has God-given dignity and worth, every member of our community deserves to be welcomed, respected, encouraged and loved. This belief lies at the heart of every aspect of school life.
Our mission is simple:
Believe. Grow. Succeed.
We want every child to believe in who they are and who God is calling them to become.
We want every child to grow academically, spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically.
We want every child to succeed—not only through excellent learning, but by becoming compassionate, resilient and confident young people who use their gifts in the service of others.
These beliefs are lived out every day through The St Bernard's Way.
The St Bernard's Way
At St Bernard's we strive to:
- treat everyone with kindness, dignity and respect
- show compassion and forgiveness
- celebrate the uniqueness of every individual
- work hard and always do our best
- persevere when learning is challenging
- take responsibility for our words and actions
- speak with honesty and respect
- care for God's world and one another
- serve our school, parish and wider community
- choose hope, joy and gratitude each day.
These are not expectations for children alone. They are values shared by our children, staff, governors and families, creating a community where everyone belongs and everyone can flourish.
Living Our Mission
We believe that education is about far more than academic success.
Our aim is to develop children whose:
- Hearts are full of kindness, empathy and faith.
- Bodies are healthy, active and ready to learn.
- Voices are respectful, courageous and used for good.
- Minds are curious, resilient and eager to discover.
When children's hearts, bodies, voices and minds are ready, they are ready to learn, to build positive relationships and to become the people God created them to be.
This is what inclusion means at St Bernard's.
This is what excellence looks like.
This is what we strive for every day as we continue becoming the school God wants us to be.
