Welcome
Welcome from the Headteacher
Welcome to St Bernard's RC Primary School.
Becoming the school God wants us to be……
Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. As you explore our website, I hope you will discover something that goes far beyond policies, curriculum plans and performance data. I hope you will discover the heart of our school.
At St Bernard's, everything we do begins with one simple belief: every child is created in the image and likeness of God, loved unconditionally by Him and called to become the very best version of themselves.
This belief shapes every decision we make.
We are proud to be a school where inclusion is not an initiative or a department—it is our way of life. Every child belongs here. Every child has a story. Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, challenged and successful. Whether a child arrives needing confidence, friendship, additional support or greater challenge, our responsibility is always the same: to help them flourish.
Our mission, Believe, Grow, Succeed, is much more than a slogan. It is the journey we want every member of our community to experience. We want children to believe in themselves because they know God believes in them. We want them to grow in knowledge, character, faith and compassion. We want them to succeed—not simply in examinations, but in becoming kind, resilient, thoughtful young people who are ready to make a positive difference in the world.
This vision is brought to life every day through what we call The St Bernard's Way. We have high expectations because we believe every child deserves the very best education. We teach children that kindness and respect matter, that hard work is something to be proud of, that everyone has something valuable to contribute and that we are stronger when we support one another.
Our curriculum has been carefully designed to develop the whole child. Alongside ambitious academic learning, we place equal importance on children's spiritual, personal, emotional and physical development. We want every child to leave St Bernard's with hearts that are compassionate, bodies that are healthy, voices that are confident and respectful, and minds that are curious and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
We know that children learn best when they feel known, understood and cared for. That is why relationships sit at the centre of our work. Our staff take the time to understand every child as an individual, recognising that behaviour is communication, that every family matters and that working in partnership with parents is fundamental to children's success.
We are incredibly proud of the journey our school is on. We celebrate the progress we have made, but we are equally ambitious about where we are going next. We are continually striving to become the school that God is calling us to be—a school where excellence and compassion walk hand in hand, where children discover both their talents and their purpose, and where every member of our community knows they truly belong.
Whether you are a current family, a prospective parent, a member of our parish community or simply visiting to learn more about our school, I warmly invite you to discover what makes St Bernard's such a special place.
We look forward to welcoming you.
