  • Great Work in Black History Week

    Following on from Year 3’s brilliant assembly, we have seen some wonderful work celebrating Black History Week. From our Early Years children learning about the amazing musical contribution made by Bob Marley to our Year 4 children using the iPads to research the life of the very first British black bus driver, Joseph Clough - we have seen some fantastic, mature contributions in class. Well done everyone!

  • Celebrating Black History Week

    To support our work in Black History Week, Year 3 led us in a beautiful assembly exploring cultural diversity. Delivered with great maturity, our Year 3 class helped everyone in school to see that all our many differences are good and make our school family an exciting thing to belong to. Well done Year 3!

  • Art Meets Autumn in Year 1

    Year 1 have been using the natural beauty of Autumn to create beautiful pieces of Art work. They all concentrated really well and felt very proud of their finished pieces.

  • Maths Meets Autumn in Early Years

    Lots of Forest School fun in Early Years this week as hunting for autumn leaves leads to counting and making patterns in the classroom. I could hear lots of great numbers and lots of children explaining the patterns they had created with the leaves, twigs and conkers - well done everyone!

  • Welcome To Our New School Leaders

    Today we welcomed our new School Leaders to their positions in school. These children have all volunteered to have special responsibility in school, helping to manage our school, setting the example of The St Bernard’s Way and seeking out ways that our younger children can be supported. We are already feeling very proud of this team!

  • I’ll Huff ….and I’ll Puff …..and….

    Early Years have been studying The Three Little Pigs. They have enjoyed reading the story, acting out parts of the story in groups and making their own houses out of different materials. The Big Bad Wolf has got no chance of blowing these strong, tough houses down!

  • Congratulations to Father Luke

    This weekend, we have celebrated the Ordination of Father Luke. The Ordination Mass took place on Saturday at St Patrick’s RC Church in Manchester with a special celebration, here at St Bernard’s, on Monday evening. The children have made cards and written prayers in honour of Fr Luke and we all send him prayers and congratulations as he starts his work as Assistant Priest to Monsignor Michael.

  • Year 6 Watch War Horse at The Lowry Theatre

    In line with our commitment to bringing excellent live theatre opportunities to the children, Year 6 today went to see War Horse. They are currently studying this beautiful story, by Michael Murpurgo and seeing the story told on stage was a truly magical experience.

  • Reception Are Reading……

    ……In Every House, On Every Street. In this story, the children have explored simple routines and traditions that exist for all families, helping them to understand the routines of the class and their school family. The children produced beautiful work from this book and enjoyed reading along with Ms Cant.
