• We Won ………AGAIN!

  This half term has seen the introduction of our new Basketball Squad who have been training and working hard to learn this fast paced game ready to impress in the Burnage League. Tonight we played the final against Ladybarn ……AND WON …..adding this to our list of sporting achievements. We are very proud of everyone who took part and provided encouragement so well done from all of us! A huge thank you to Mr Shaw for turning our enthusiastic Y6s into this incredibly successful team in such a short space of time.

  

• Ash Wednesday Devotions

  Today, we have all started our Lenten preparations by listening to the Word of God, considering how we can give and pray more and receiving ashes on our foreheads showing everyone we meet that we are followers of Jesus. All of our children took part, from the many different faiths that we have in our school, experiencing this in a way that is meaningful to them. The St Bernard’s Way in action - unity, giving and dedication to others.

  

• Our Boys Team Win The Burnage Football League!!!!!!

  Our fantastic boys team have done us proud tonight with an amazing win in the Burnage League Final. Playing Green End, a brilliant game took place where our boys learned the power of concentrating right to the final whistle. The game ended 9-4 and we are very very proud of our boys. A massive thank you to Mr Shaw for all his expertise and guidance in turning our team into the fantastic squad that they are.

  

• Our Girls Play At Carrington

  Having successfully won their earlier tournament in January, our Girls Football Team travelled to Carrington to take part in the final against all the other winning teams. Finishing fourth, our girls showed brilliant determination, skill and team work, yet again making the St Bernard’s family very proud! They also had some vital learning opportunities that they can take with them to their next tournament at The Etihad later on in the year. A huge thank you to Mr Shaw & Mr Farrelly for all they have done to prepare the girls for today.

  

• Year 6 Team building!

  Our year 6 pupils all took part in some team buliding activities this afternoon with Will and Becky from N-Gage, our local youth club. The pupils did really well racing to add all the pieces together, making a circle and standing in it and building the tallest and shortest structure they could... what great practice for Winmarleigh!

• A Parents Evening With a Difference……

  This evening we opened our doors to all our lovely parents and carers for progress reports with each of our class teachers. We also had wonderful input from local community support agencies, offering help and advice on a huge range of issues that can face families at any times in their lives. A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for this event.

  A huge well done to Ms Doolan’s class for leading the parish in a beautiful mass this morning which included a homily from Fr Luke all about his mission to spread God’s Word ….even on his visit to The Etihad Stadium!

  

• Mrs Tierney’s Class Teach Us About the Bible…..

  Today, Mrs Tierney’s class led us in a wonderful assembly all about the different books in the bible. All planned and delivered by the children themselves, we all learned about the different sections of the bible and thought about our favourite bible stories. A brilliant job Year 6, leading the younger children in their spiritual development.

  Our girls were amazing today; competing against a variety of other schools in Manchester, sailing through to the final and WINNING to take their place in the overall final on the 8th February. An amazing effort girls, you have done us proud! Well done and a huge thank you to Mr Shaw.
