Football .....We Did It Again!!!!
Fri 24 Mar 2023This morning saw the turn of our brand new girls football team at The Etihad Stadium. Our girls worked so hard and proved that team work really does make the dream work - with a clean sheet we made it to the quarter finals and won that game in a penalty shoot out taking us through to the semi final. To get that far in our very first tournament is an absolute triumph so a huge well done to our girls and thank you to Mr Shaw for all his coaching and support.

Mr Jeff Smith, our MP Visits St Bernard’s
Fri 17 Mar 2023Following some outstanding work from Ms Hill’s class, our local MP, Mr Jeff Smith came to visit our school. Year 3 & 4 listened beautifully as Mr Smith explained his role as an MP. The children then asked some excellent questions about what is being done by the government to address climate change. Mr Smith’s team were in touch later on to say that the children were a credit to us and that “their interest and behaviour was exemplary”. A huge well done to Ms Hill’s class and many thanks to Mr Smith for his time.

Thank You For Attending Parents Evening
Thu 09 Mar 2023It was good to welcome so many parents and carers to our Parents Evening this week. We had an attendance rate of 70% and we would really like to see this rise to 100% for our next one in November. We hope that you enjoyed seeing your children’s work and talking to teachers about their progress.

Big Lent Walk!
Thu 09 Mar 2023Over the next couple of days your child will be bringing home a letter about the 'Big Lent Walk' which we are taking part in as a school to help with our preparations for Lent. Our challenge as a school is to walk 600km and we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for CAFOD.
Mr Flannery gave all the children an assembly last week to tell them all about the work CAFOD do all over the world but they rely upon donations to do this incredible work.
This is where you come in... we aren't asking the children to be sponsored for each km they do, simply log on to our fundraising page and make a donation towards our final total. If each family just donated £1 we would make over £200! Don't forget to share our fundraising page with friends and family and lets see how much we can collect for others in need over this Lenten period.

Science Evening
Wed 08 Mar 2023On Tuesday 14th March, you are all warmly invited into school at 3.15pm to experience some Science fun with your child. In the main hall (for KS2) and in the portacabin (for KS1 & Early Years), the staff will be setting up a series of Science experiments for you to have a go at with your children. This is to support our work as part of this year's Science Week and was introduced this week by a presentation from The Mad Science Company. We hope you can join us.
Please remember to book your child onto the Mad Science after school club for after Easter if you wish your child to have a place. All information was sent out on Tuesday in the leaflet.
