Sunflowers & Stormy Days
Mon 10 Feb 2025As a fantastic finale to our Children’s Mental Health Week, our Reception class, along with Years 1, 2 & 3, enjoyed a brilliant performance of Sunflowers & Stormy Days provided by our good friends at Altru Drama. Our Reception parents got to watch with us and then Year 1 & 2 took part in a specially designed workshop aimed at helping younger children with their own mental health. A brilliant morning for everyone!

Children’s Mental Health Day
Wed 05 Feb 2025Today we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Day with a beautiful collection of therapeutic sessions. We all experienced sound therapy, yoga and peer massage and thought carefully about how we can recognise and manage our feelings and our reactions to others. A huge thank you to our partners at Fifth Movement for supporting us today ….thank you too to all our little friends in Inside Out.

Fantastic Football!
Mon 03 Feb 2025Our football success continues as we have shown off our skills at both The Etihad Stadium and The Cliff. Our mixed team and our girls team both enjoyed great success with our mixed team reaching the semi finals and our girls coming second in their very fast paced tournament. A huge thank you to Mr Shaw for all his expertise and …..look out for photos in March as we visit The Etihad with our younger children in Years 1 & 2.

Happy Chinese New Year!
Wed 29 Jan 2025Today, our Early Years children have celebrated Chinese New Year. They have tried on traditional Chinese clothes, listened to traditional Chinese songs, made Chinese fans and tried traditional Chinese food. They even made a very fiery Chinese dragon! Well done to all our little people.

Jubilee 2025 - Pilgrims of Hope
Fri 24 Jan 2025Today we have launched our special Jubilee 2025 celebrations. Pope Francis has invited us all to be ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, renewing our relationship with God, each other and the world that we should care for. We have started this journey with six amazing pieces of art work, mirroring the style of a variety of famous artists and depicting six scenes of hope from the Old and New Testament. We will be sharing much more of this wonderful journey with you across this year.

Our St Bernard’s Artists
Mon 20 Jan 2025We have all been taking part in a wonderful Art Week creating amazing pieces of art work, in the style of a variety of artists, celebrating the bible stories that are the most special to us. The children have worked very hard and had a fantastic time with Jo, our visiting artist. Well done everyone 🎨.

Fun With Fruit!
Fri 10 Jan 2025All of our classes enjoy Golden Time each Friday as a reward for all their hard work and good behaviour and this week Year 6 chose to make fruit kebabs. Some great ideas and great team work led to a whole collection of beautiful designs….. including one specially delivered to Ms Breeze as a Friday afternoon treat! 🍎🍐🍓

Amazing Maths Across the School!
Wed 08 Jan 2025Right across the school, from our youngest children to our older children, everyone is diving in to our new ways of working in Maths. Did you know that all of our Maths lessons now start with a problem - something tricky for everyone to discuss, experiment with and have a go at solving. This is a great way to get everyone involved in the Maths learning for the day and help the children to see that testing problems out, using everybody’s ideas, is a great way to learn.

Our Gift to Baby Jesus…….?
Mon 06 Jan 2025Kindness, friendship and love. Whilst the three kings brought gold, frankincense and myrrh, here at St Bernard’s, we are bringing our gifts to Jesus - the gifts that make our school the special place that it is for all of us. As we mark The Epiphany, we are making sure that the wonderful gifts that our children have to offer in their hearts are shared with everyone.
