Week beginning 17th October
Frida Kahlo Screen Printing
Children had such a fun filled afternoon using different printing techniques and learning about their class artist Frida Kahlo.
To begin with they scratch printed her portrait using black ink, which created an effective black and white print. To this they added colour and collage.
Creating a collage of facts and pictures in their books was a highlight and everyone added their own unique, artistic twist.
FInally we screen printed our own tote bags. Children and staff all enjoyed this aspect and we really can't wait until the bags are dry and we can take them home.
Thanks to our artist Cheryl for a great introduction to Frida Kahlo and screen printing. We are hooked.
*Remember to iron your bag from the back to fix the print!*
Art Workshop at Manchester Central Library
Today Year5/6 spent the morning at Manchester Library.
We explored the colourful and comfortable children's library. The circle seats were very popular.
Our main reason for the visit was the Black History Portrait Workshop which fits perfectly with both our History and Art curriculum and celebration weeks.
Children made artistic and original collages of Martin Luther King using colours, paper and material. They are now proudly on display in our classroom.
Thank you to Jodie and Tina at the library and our parent helpers who really got stuck in with the Art.
Well done children too - a fantastic visit.
