Week beginning 5th December

This week the children are reading the story A Home in the Snow about a badger who thinks his friends have forgotten his birthday but they’ve actually planned a surprise party for him! The children have been recreating the party in the outdoor area  by making cakes and coffee and sitting the animals around the camp fire!

They even added candles to the birthday cakes.

They even played party games - musical bumps!

Some of the nursery children have been playing teachers in the outdoor and reading stories to their class.

We’ve been getting in the Christmas spirit!

The children were so excited about the frost and ice when they arrived at school today.  It was so fitting as we were learning about what makes ice melt in our topic lesson today, linked to our story A Home in the Snow. The children loved exploring the ice and how to make it melt and free the toys trapped inside!

We even wrote letters and our names in the snow!

Despite being very cold today, the children have loved being outside! The children enjoyed exploring the water tray this morning full of ice! They’ve been printing rectangles and squares which we’ve been learning about in maths this week and painting on the easels.  They’ve even been making hot  chocolates in our mud kitchen!

Nursery getting wrapped up for the outdoors!
