Week beginning 10th October

We've had a lovely start to the week finding out about Bob Marley and recreating his music with instruments. We've also been busy looking for signs of Autumn and using our new bug jars to collect bugs to look at through the microscope!

As part of Black History Month, we have been reading a range of stories about people from other cultures.  In Topic, we've learned about a famous lady who came from Trinidad as a little girl- Floella Benjamin and we have read her story Coming to England.  The children have learned about animals that come from Trinidad and created artwork based on the style of the colourful artwork from Trinidad.  We have been comparing Trinidad to England and talking about some of the differences and similarities.  Some children even drew and used collage to create a picture of Floella.

Some of the boys played a super game outside. I wonder who scored the highest?

The malleable table has been really popular this week!

Today's visit to the library was wonderful. The children enjoyed listening to a story and then choosing their own books to borrow and bring back to school.

The children have had great fun this morning fishing for numbered fish in the outdoor area.

As the character from the story Coming to England came from Trinidad, we've been learning about fruit that is grown in Trinidad today and we're very excited as we're going to be tasting some tropical fruit tomorrow. friot

This afternoon we have had so much fun playing a bean bag throw game in maths, scoring our own points on the board.

Printing With Autumn Finds.

We had a lovely time tasting tropical fruit that grows in Trinidad this afternoon. We were so proud of how many children tried the different fruits especially the pomegranate
