Late/Absence Procedures

To ensure children make the most of the educational opportunities available to them, regular attendance and punctuality is key. We are very proud of all our pupils achieving 97% attendance and above. To celebrate their success, our high attendance achievers will be rewarded with house points, raffle tickets, end of year celebrations and extra play time.

We understand that poor attendance can often be an indication of difficulties in a child’s life. In instances of unauthorised absence, or when attendance has failed to improve, we will meet with parents to identify any challenges and offer support, whilst putting plans in place to help the child catch up with missed learning.

Please remember that when a child’s absence falls below 90%, they will be logged as Persistently Absent and parents may be issued with a Penalty Fine by the Local Authority.

Late Arrival

The school register begins at 8.40 and closes at 8.55 am. If your child arrives after this time, they must be taken to the school office where they will be marked as late. Any arrival after 9.10 am will be recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Reporting an Absence

To report your child’s absence, please ring the school office at 0161 432 7635. If we do not hear from you before 9.30 am, we will contact you to check on the safety and wellbeing of your child.

Absences may be authorised for illnesses, medical appointments, religious observances and other exceptional circumstances, in which case parents must provide a written request to the headteacher.
