WALT: understand the books that the community use to respond at Mass.

Welcoming into the parish family at Mass.

We begin our gathering by making the sign of the cross.

Parish members carry out readings and we listen to God’s Word.

The book of the Gospels is held up by the priest or deacon for the procession to the lectern. We greet the Gospel with ‘Alleluia!’

Here are some of the responses we practised for Mass:

“The Lord be with you.” We respond with: “And with your spirit.”
“The Word of the Lord.” We respond with: “Thanks be to God.”
“The Gospel of the Lord.” We respond with: “Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.”
“Go in peace.” We respond with: “Thanks be to God.”
