Our Day of Mourning - Queen Elizabeth II
Today, we remembered our Queen in ways which she would have approved of. We showed our gratitude and respect for our longest reigning monarch whilst having fun and laughter as we celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s life.
To start our day, we read all about if Queen in a special fiction book that told the story of her life through the decades. We prayed and gave thanks to your Queen and wrote our messages of condolences.
After break time, we gathered with our peers across the school for a minute’s silence, followed by the national anthem. We we then madness our way back to class to complete a celebration piece of work on the Queen. Here, we remembered our time in Year One where we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and our celebrations in school and across the world. We watched the clip of Paddington’s disastrous, but hilarious, afternoon tea visit with the Queen. What a mess he made!
We then laced ourselves in the fortunate paws of Paddington and thought of questions that we would like to ask the Queen ourselves. We added these to a teapot template and sketched a portraits of ourselves with the Queen. We also decorated our teapot with designs that we think she would rather admire.
That afternoon, we had a very special liturgical prayer led by Mrs Phillips and thought about the life of our Queen and prayed for her and her family during this sad time.
To to end our day, we celebrated the Queen by having an afternoon tea party where we had the chance to try some yummy scones and watched Paddington.
Thank you Ma’am, for everything.
Rest in peace.
Remembering Our Queen - Elizabeth II
WALT: Celebrate Roald Dahl’s birthday by creating our own ‘marvellous medicine’.
We have been busy designing and making our own medicines to give to George’s grizzly grandma. To make our medicine, we experimented with mixing bicarbonate of soda, lemon juice, water, washing up liquid and food colouring to make our own fizzy, frothing medicine.
