This week is Children’s Mental Health week and as part of the work we are doing, the children watched a production from the Altru Drama Company called What’s Up Alfie? It focused on becoming more resilient by exploring difficult feelings and challenging behaviour. The play offered practical solutions to dealing with angry feelings, falling out with friends and finding school work difficult. The children really enjoyed it.
It’s Chinese New Year on Saturday and this week the children are learning all about the celebration. Some of the children were even trying to do some Chinese writing today.
As part of Children’s mental health week the year 1 and Reception children took part in a mindfulness session today. We learnt how our breathing can help feel calm and we drew a jar and emptied our mind into it by drawing the things we were thinking about. The children really enjoyed it.
As part of our People Who Help Us topic, we had a wonderful visit from our local PCSOs from Burnage and Withington. They talked about their jobs, their uniforms and showed the children their police van! The children absolutely loved every minute. They even gave the children some fluorescent fun police stickers and goodies to take home!
