Week beginning 17th October

This week, we explored and experiments the use of charcoal and oil pastels to recreate can Gogh’s self portraits. we then applied out skills to create our own  self-portraits using charcoal and oil pastels.

Our School Van Gogh Gallery Experience

On Monday, we turned our spare classroom in a Vincent van Gogh art gallery. First, we had some time to reflect spiritually on how it would have felt for van Gogh to paint and how it made him feel. We did this by watching the stars projected on the ceiling to reflect The Starry Night.

After that, we visited different pieces of art by our artist, around the room, in groups.

Once we had visited the gallery, we talked about our favourite price and why. We sat to study the colours of van Gogh’s pieces and coloured our favourite in, using our discussion of colour.

Class Library Trip for Black History Month

We started our week off many books and a trip to our local library. The librarians were so welcoming, they registered us for our own library cards, so we can take books home whenever we like. We found out about half term crafts and lego club too! We read books dedicated to Black History Month and we also sang rhymes!

At the end of our library time, we chose our own book to take back on our class library card! We have been really enjoying our new books so far!
