Week beginning 27th March 2023
We have had a visit from a professional poet this week. Ash Dickinson, who has written a number of poetry books, came to visit St Bernard's to share some of his poetry and inspired us to be poets too!
We enjoyed an assembly with the rest of the school and had a workshop in class. During the workshop we joined Ash with some performance poetry and then shared ideas to make our own class poem.
Our class poem is called 'My Pet Monster'
My Pet Monster
Has purple pointy ears, red fur and big brown teeth.
It is as tall as King Kong and as wide as a shark's mouth.
It eats bread, berries, beds, beards, babies and bumblebees.
It wears a black hat, a green top and emoji slippers on its feet.
It sits on a theatre seat.
It is as happy as a dog wagging its tail!
Can you spot a simile, alliteration and rhyme in our poem?
