Week beginning 4th September

A wonderful, sunny start to Year 4!

We began the year by creating our own personalised drawer labels and bookmarks.

This week, we learned all about our class saint, Saint Brigid of Kildare, Ireland. Brigid was an extremely caring and generous girl who was inspired by Saint Patrick and thereafter dedicated her life to God. The story goes that St. Brigid, an early Christian nun, wanted some land to build a church, so asked the King for a plot of land, but he laughed and refused. Brigid prayed to God and visited the King again to ask the same question. This time, he offered her the amount of land that her cloak could cover, which Brigid agreed to. When she put the cloak down, a miracle happened as it started to grow big enough to build the church on!

We were very lucky to have a visitor in our first week, to give us a taster session of playing the Djembe African drums. Miss Etel was really impressed by our newly acquired drumming skills.

Friday fun during Golden Time...

Our week drew to a beautiful close with a collective worship dedicated to St. Brigid, taking inspiration from her kindness and generosity and considering how we will emulate her love in this new school year.
