PSHE Curriculum Intent
At St Bernard’s, our PSHE curriculum develops pupils’ confidence, compassion and emotional literacy. It teaches children to understand themselves and others, make positive choices and live healthy, safe and responsible lives. Through rich discussion, reflection and practical learning, pupils build resilience, empathy and respect. The curriculum follows DfE statutory guidance and the Caritas in Action principles, helping pupils connect personal growth with faith in action. By the end of primary school, every child is equipped with the knowledge, language and values to contribute positively to their community and lead a happy, healthy and purposeful life.
Ultimately, our PSHE curriculum nurtures confidence, compassion and conscience, empowering every child to be resilient, kind and ready to make a positive difference to society.
