Religious Education (RE) Curriculum Intent
At St Bernard’s, our Religious Education curriculum invites children to know, talk about and live their faith. Using the Diocese of Salford’s Lighting the Path scheme and the Caritas in Action programme, we emphasise rich religious vocabulary, structured discussion, and service-led learning. Pupils explore scripture, the Catholic tradition, and other faiths; learn to explain, reflect and reason; and put belief into action through compassionate service and social justice. By the end of primary school, each child will have the knowledge, language and confidence to engage with faith, value human dignity, and contribute meaningfully to the world.
Ultimately, our RE curriculum equips children not just with religious knowledge, but with curiosity, moral purpose and a living faith—enabling them to encounter God, respect one another, and play an active part in building a more just and loving world.
