Firstly, I would like to say a massive well done for all students’ participation this week. This shows real commitment, responsibility, and enthusiasm for your learning in Year 6. As a result, our raffle jar was completely full by the end of the week! I am so very proud of the effort shown. Also, a special mention to the students who are onto their second reading book- keep it up!


This week in maths, we represented stories using structures. We identified there were additive structures (using repeated addition) and also multiplicative structures to represent stories.

This week in English, we introduced our main focal learning point this term: narrative writing. We identified how using expanded noun phrases can level up a piece of descriptive writing.

We explored our new book, ‘The Lion above the door.’ After being introduced to chapter 1, we collated predictions about what might happen next in chapter 2 (we will find out on Monday!).
