Week 3

In our English lessons, we have been researching information on food waste so that we can write a persuasive letter to our local MP about the importance of not wasting food and coming up better ideas for our local area to stop food going to landfill and help our local environment! This is helping us come up with some great questions for when our local MP comes in to class to discuss these issues in person. This has linked in nicely with our DT unit on seasonal eating and the importance of eating locally sourced, seasonal produce to help reduce food miles and help reduce global warming. We also had a video tour of Miss Hill's allotment and got to eat some fresh honeyberries picked fresh that morning and only 8 food miles away from school. The jury is out on the taste though! Some children were queuing up for more and some children had a very funny face from the tartness of the berries!
