Week 4

WOW! What an absolutely amazing food technology day we have had in Year 3! The children have learnt SO much! They have leant the different grips to use when cutting safely, how to peel and how to grate food. We have talked about the importance of eating fresh, seasonal produce and the effect this has not only on our bodies but the environment, reducing air miles. We started the day off with a taste test of different spring seasonal vegetables before planning, designing and making a mock template of what we wanted our tarts to look like. We then worked in groups to prepare the food for our tarts. After lunch, we went into the hall and prepared our puff pastry tarts with tomato puree before adding all our seasonal vegetables and topping with cheese! The end of the day was spent eating our hardwork and evaluating it. A fantastic day was had by all!

Today we took part in a 'Speak Out, Stay Safe' assembly and activities. We learnt the different types of abuse and that abuse is never a child's fault. They also learnt that they have the right to be kept safe and that they know who to talk to if they need help.
