This week was British Science Week with a theme of ‘change and adapt.’ It began with a visitor from United Utilities who came in to give an introduction assembly, teaching us lots of interesting facts about H2O: The water cycle (where our water comes from), the journey of water to our homes, the different states of water, water in the world and the importance of saving water in our homes. The children were fascinated to learn that water is continually recycled by Earth and that a single drop of water can be millions - even billions - of years old. This means that they could be drinking the same water as Julius Caesar drank over 2,000 years ago, or even the dinosaurs!
On Thursday, parents joined us for a great afternoon of science experiments where we made bouncy eggs and floating pictures...
To link with our current History unit on the Romans and English unit on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii, we even made our own volcanos then mixed different ingredients to create lava and watch them explode!
