Week beginning 30th September

This week we continued our learning about Jesus's ancestors. One of these was Ruth whose story began with the tragic death of her husband and father-in-law. She remained extremely loyal and faithful towards her mother-in-law and in turn God rewarded Ruth, so she won the love and protection of a wealthy man named Boaz. The couple became the great-grandparents of King David, who was the father of Solomon. Solomon was another of Jesus’s ancestors who was a very wise leader and demonstrated his God-given wisdom when faced with several dilemmas. The children listened to scripture about Solomon and then worked in groups to depict his life story.

As October is the month of the Rosary, we decided that it would be a great idea if our class intention linked to the theme of our current English text 'This Morning I met a Whale' by Michael Morpurgo. The story is about a boy called Michael who receives a very important message about pollution and climate change from a whale who ventured into the River Thames. We watched a video about the impact of ocean pollution and pray that God helps us all to act now for our future generations and the good of our sea creatures.
