This week, we celebrated Children's Mental Health Week with our class theme 'It's ok not to feel ok - and it helps when we don't face it alone.' We began by looking at different facial expressions to decide how we thought the child may be feeling, then we looked at pictures and discussed how the character feels, based on facial expressions and body language. The pictures came from the 'Sad book' by Michael Rosen which talks about how Michael felt following a family tragedy and how he dealt with his overwhelming feelings. Finally, the children chose a way to demonstrate their learning with either a poster, storyboard or poem and here is some of the learning that took place and a sample of their work...
