Our first full week back in Year 5!

What a fantastic start to the term! This week marked our first full week back and the children have thrown themselves into their learning with enthusiasm. They have settled into their routines beautifully, beginning each morning with silent reading, spelling practice and handwriting. The progress is already clear to see. Well done Year 5!

On Monday, we celebrated Mary's birthday by writing poems to thank her for her love, support and guidance.

We began our new book, Beowulf. The children were captivated by the story and eager to find out what happens next. Through drama, they predicted what they think is going to happen next. We have also been looking into the characteristics of Beowulf.

Our computing topic this term is online safety. This week, the children designed posters sharing their knowledge.

Year 5 have chosen Saint Micheal the Archangel as our class saint this year. All children created reports on who Saint Michael the archangel is.

In History, we began our topic on the Anglo-Saxons. The children enjoyed discovering where they came from and identifying this on a map.

Finally in maths, children have explored different ways of identifying tenths. The children showed great focus and determination to develop their understanding.

Overall, it has been a wonderful first week back. The children should be very proud of how hard they have worked already. We are looking forward to many more exciting weeks ahead!
