Physical Education (PE) Curriculum Intent
At St Bernard’s, our PE curriculum builds pupils’ confidence, fitness and character through a broad and inclusive range of physical activities. Recognising that many pupils have limited access to sport beyond school, we prioritise skill development, teamwork and resilience, ensuring every child experiences success and joy in movement. Our sequenced curriculum develops competence in physical skills, tactical understanding and healthy lifestyles. Taught by our talented, professional coach Mr Shaw, pupils learn to cooperate, compete fairly and persevere, building self-belief and respect for others. By the end of primary school, every pupil will have the skills, confidence and positive attitude needed for lifelong health and wellbeing.
Ultimately, our PE curriculum equips pupils with the skills, attitudes and values to thrive physically, socially and emotionally, fostering a lifelong love of sport, movement and wellbeing.
