Week 1
We started our new science topic on reversible and irreversible changes with a fun experiment using water and sugar. After mixing them together, one of our students thought that if we poured the kettle water back in, the sugar might magically reappear...
As we observed and discussed, we realised that the sugar hadn’t disappeared at all; it had dissolved into the water, forming a solution. We found out that to get the sugar back, we’d need to evaporate the water. It was exciting to see that some changes are reversible, but not always in the way you might first imagine!
In our upcoming lessons, we’ll explore different states of matter and carry out more experiments to investigate reversible and irreversible changes.
