Week 5

Who am I when no one is watching?- Mental Health Week

This week in Year 6K, we focused on Mental Health Week and spent time thinking about our feelings, friendships and how we treat others. We talked about how important it is to be kind, understanding and supportive, especially when someone might be having a difficult time. It gave us the chance to reflect on how we can look after our own mental health and support those around us.

We read the book Auggie & Me by R. J. Palacio. The story is about a student who is different and shows how people can sometimes be treated unfairly because of how they look or who they are. It helped us understand the importance of empathy and reminded us that everyone experiences things differently.

In our PSHE lessons, we explored the same events from different perspectives. We discussed how different characters might feel and how situations can be misunderstood if we only see one side. This helped us to think more deeply about fairness, inclusion and the importance of understanding others.

We also created a spoken word poem called Who Am I When No One’s Watching? Through our poetry, we reflected on our true selves - our thoughts, feelings and choices when nobody else is around. We thought about integrity, kindness and being proud of who we are.
