Week 8
As we come to the end of a busy first half of the autumn term, it’s been a fantastic week filled with learning, celebration, and important messages!
We began the week with a visit from our local fire brigade, who delivered an engaging fire safety assembly. With Bonfire Night just around the corner, it was a timely reminder about how to stay safe and enjoy the celebrations responsibly. The firefighters talked to the children about the importance of keeping a safe distance from bonfires and fireworks, never playing with sparklers without adult supervision, and knowing what to do in case of an emergency.
We really enjoyed meeting Fireman Sam, who showed us the fire engine and some of the equipment.
This week, Year 6K have been celebrating Black History Month under the theme ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride.’Throughout this work, we have explored the resilience, strength, and determination of individuals who have made a lasting impact on history and society.
As part of our learning, we created a class video highlighting influential Black figures such as Rosa Parks, Muhammad Ali, and contemporary role models including Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham. Their stories demonstrate the importance of perseverance, pride, and standing firm in the face of challenges.
We hope you enjoy our video and that it inspires you as much as it has inspired us.
Black History Month: Standing firm in power and pride.
Thank you Year 6K for your hard work this term. Have a restful half-term break, and I look forward to seeing you next term!
