Week beginning 5th May
As May is the month of our blessed Mother Mary, the whole school participated in our Marian procession. The children brought in flowers to crown her as Queen of Heaven and we sang hymns that have been written in her honour. Year 4 investigated the scripture which features in the Hail Mary prayer, drew some lovely pictures of Mary (see the example below, beautifully drawn by Robin) and all children contributed to a collaborative piece of art which we have proudly displayed on our class altar. Throughout the month of May, we will continue to ask Mary to intercede for us in our prayers.
In Maths, we have been furthering our learning on fractions by comparing and ordering mixed numbers and positioning them on a number line. We also had fun demonstrating our understanding of integers, fractions and mixed numbers with the Cuisenaire Rods.
In our weekly singing lessons, we have been busy warming up our vocal chords for the upcoming Songbook concert at The Lowry Theatre…
