  • A great time with Great Athletes! This morning we welcomed Paralympic sprinter Michael Churm. We took part in a sponsored fitness session then had an inspirational assembly where he talked about how he has overcome challenges and competed at a range of national and world competitions. He taught us to “Always try your best!” Well done everyone for all of the interesting questions that you asked Michael and for your participation in our physical activities too!

Today saw the final stage of our part in the anchor’s journey as our fabulous Faith Team took it on to its next location at St Cuthbert’s RC Primary School. We enjoyed a special liturgy together and then a celebratory feast - all in matching jumpers. It was such a pleasure to be with more wonderful young people proving they are ambassadors of our faith.

Another fantastic step in our Pilgrims of Hope journey today as our pupil leaders led mass for the whole parish in honour of the Jubilee Anchor and all that it represents. Parishioners, parents & carers then came in to school for tea, biscuits and a tour around all the wonderful artwork completed by all of our children. Thank you so much to all the children, staff, parents, carers and parishioners for joining us - another very proud day for the St Bernard’s family.

  • St Bernard’s & The Barlow RC High School, United As Pilgrims of Hope

    Fri 03 Oct 2025 C. Breeze

Today was a magnificent day as the Pilgrims of Hope anchor, which has travelled from school to school across the Salford Diocese, was brought to us by The Barlow RC High School. Delivered to us in the most spectacular way, on a steam engine, our two schools enjoyed a special liturgy focused on how we are all anchored in faith.  Singing a special song, written by Fr Luke, we all praised God and reflected on how we can bring hope to the world.

We look forward to seeing all of you at church at 10am on Sunday 5th October for the next stage of our Pilgrims of Hope journey. You are all invited into school after mass to enjoy refreshments and view the beautiful anchor art work that all of our children have produced.

A big thank you to the children and staff of The Barlow and well done to our Faith Team for leading our liturgy and hosting afternoon tea for our special guests.

  • An Incredibly Proud Day!

    Sat 20 Sep 2025 C. Breeze

Today we welcomed parents, carers and children to our Open Day. All our visitors met our fantastic staff team and our wonderful children; our Eco Team from Year 3 & 4 and our Faith Team and Student Leaders from Year 5 & 6. Our brilliant Sports Coach from A Star Coaching and our talented Dance Coach and Forest School teacher from Fifth Movement also joined us and helped all of our visitors experience our wonderful curriculum.

And what blew our visitors away…..? Our amazing children who welcomed our new children so warmly, spoke so articulately to parents and carers and made us all so proud to be part of the St Bernard’s family.

Well done boys and girls and a big thank you to your parents for bringing you along - a nice pizza lunch was well deserved by everyone!

  • Bernie Visits…….?

    Fri 29 Aug 2025 C. Breeze

Do you know where Bernie is today….? He is somewhere in Italy …..somewhere that is very famous ……somewhere that has a very famous tower that looks like it’s about to fall over…..?! Ms Cant will be able to tell you. Maybe, in the Construction Area in your classroom, you could make your very own leaning tower 😉. He then had a nice meal and went to the theatre to see a wonderful Italian singer.
